he rift between the college lacrosse officials group (COC) and its administrators (USILA) hasn’t been resolved. There has been correspondence, but no agreement has been reached for the upcoming season.
USILA addresses some issues
Tom Calder, President of the USILA, sent a letter to college lacrosse officials on July 16. In his letter, he acknowledged the conflict and discussed some of the charges made by COC at the USILA.
In regards to an action not to submit two officials' names for NCAA assignments, Calder said it “could have been avoided” and said it was “regrettable.” But he also noted that the District Assigning Authority (DAA) bore the responsibility for not complying with provisions regarding post-season assignments.
As for COC allegations regarding coaches and problems with the National Coordinator of Officials (NCO), Calder said the charges were without foundation. He noted that “the USILA regrets that the COC has recommended terminating our agreement.” Calder added the “USILA supports officials' efforts to associate,” but “[we] will not ... negotiate under ultimatums based so loosely on unreported, undocumented incidents.”
