The push

he most common infraction whistle is the loose ball push. For the rookie, the push can be a difficult call because any loose ball technical foul is a "play-on situation." That means the referee raises his hand and yells "play-on" to allow the offending team to gain possession.

If the ball remains loose for more than a few seconds — or if the violating team gains possession — sound your whistle. Soccer veterans will adapt easily to this lacrosse mechanic because lacrosse borrowed it from futbol.
