n a one-man game, the best position for the referee is the far side. The main reason: The players and the bench are in front of you. While you’ll be able to see the players and coaches, being on the far side puts you out of an earshot and out of trouble in the bench area. In addition, the sideline help (mentioned in Part I) is another plus to running opposite the table.
Offsides is arguably the toughest call in lacrosse. In a one-man game, the offsides behind the play can be an impossible call. The reason? The only way to see the infraction is to twist your head away from the ball and the action, and look back toward the midline.
